Responsible travel is built from everyday decisions: how a group behaves in a village, what it carries, where it spends, and whether the pace respects both people and landscape.
Culture is not scenery
Religious sites, festivals, homes and working communities should be approached as living places. Guests should follow local guidance on dress, photography, entry, conversation and donations. Permission should be requested before photographing individuals.
Local delivery
Journeys are organized and fulfilled by Adventures with Altitude Expedition in Kathmandu. Where practical, itineraries use local accommodation, transport, staff and services appropriate to the route.
Waste and resources
Travellers are encouraged to carry reusable bottles where water treatment is suitable, avoid unnecessary single-use packaging, keep batteries and non-biodegradable waste out of the trail environment, and use water and energy thoughtfully in mountain settlements.
Wildlife and landscapes
Guests should remain on established routes where instructed, avoid disturbing wildlife, and never remove natural or cultural objects. Local and protected-area rules apply even when they require a change to personal plans.
Honest improvement
AWA will publish specific environmental targets only when they can be measured and verified. Broad claims such as “zero impact” or “fully sustainable” are avoided because every journey uses resources.
